A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE
EMERGENCE OF VISION
INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY
In 1974, Vision began operations in both
Tasmania, Australia and San Diego, California.
Dr. Ken Chant, founder of Vision Bible College,
began teaching in Launceston, Tasmania.
At the same time, Dr. Joseph Bohac and
Dr. Stan DeKoven founded the Logos Institute,
a training program for local churches in
practical ministry and counseling.
In 1977, Dr. Chant moved his school to
Sydney, Australia, joining Pastor Allan
Langstaff, where the Vision Bible College
program grew. Logos Institute continued to
operate as a counseling training center, and
Dr. DeKoven continued to study psychology
and theology.
Since 1990, Vision has expanded its influence
around the world, establishing resource
centers on every continent. Vision now has its
own online learning system, provides
curriculum to Bible colleges around the world
through our World Zone leaders in multiple
languages, and continues to train 21st century
leaders to take the Word to the world.
ACCREDITATION
Vision International University was accredited by ASIC
(Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges
and Universities) in 2022.
ASIC accreditation is the leading, globally recognized
standard of quality in international education. Institutions
undergo a non-partisan and independent external
assessment process to confirm that they meet rigorous
internationally recognized standards covering the full
range of administration, management and educational
offerings. Achieving ASIC accreditation demonstrates to
students and stakeholders that an institution is a high
quality provider of educational services that provides
safe and rewarding learning and is committed to
continuous improvement.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
This text should not be regarded as a comprehensive
statement of doctrine, but rather as a description of the
doctrinal framework within which the Vision University
functions. Those who share our spiritual views will be
mostly familiar with the following terms and concepts and
will be able to fill in the blanks. If, however, you would like
clarification on any point, feel free to ask about it. We will
be happy to explain our position on any doctrinal issue in
detail.
- That there is only one God who reveals Himself as our Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- In the absolute sovereignty and deity of Christ (including His preexistence), in His immaculate conception, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, and His coming return to earth in glory and power to establish His eternal kingdom.
- In the full spiritual authority, reliability, and divine inspiration of the Bible, including chapters 1-11 of Genesis as presented.
- That nothing can replace the importance of the local church in God’s plan. That the most impor tant task of every local church is to reproduce itself by affirming other churches; and the most important task of the church in general is world evangelization.
- That people do not enter the church by inheritance, good works, or any other means, but only by a “new birth,” which occurs when a person sincerely repents of sins, confesses Christ as the only Savior, and submits to him as Lord.
- That membership in the church is expressed by joyful participation in its worship, fellowship, sacraments, witness, and acceptance of its discipline.
- That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is an integral component of an effective Christian life and ministry.
- That the church cannot fulfill its mission without five leadership ministries (Eph. 4:11), and it is our responsibility to help prepare such people to fulfill their ministries (Eph. 4:12).
- That Christ on Calvary purchased bodily healing for every believer, and that this healing must be received by faith.
- That the reality of Satan and the kingdom of darkness in which he rules, and the absolute triumph of Christ over the devil and all his works.
- That the victorious Christian life is based on the proper under standing and use of the spiritual authority received by the believer with the gift of righteousness.
- In the resurrection of the dead at the coming of Christ, in the inevita bility of God’s judgment, and in the inevitable outcome of that judgment for the righteous and the unrighteous foretold in Scripture.
Given our identity and mission as outlined in the above para graphs, we can be described as an evangelical, Spirit-filled, and faith-based institution. This position is affirmed in our clas ses. However, we respect other points of view and try to avoid rigid dogmatism or criticism of those who differ from us.
VISION UNIVERSITY BIBLE SCHOOL
Vision University Bible School branches
are opened in local churches, and it is
very important for us to actively interact
with pastors and administrators. It is for
this purpose that regular conferences
are organized, where the Institute team
shares its vision for the future, new
plans and projects, and listens to the
desires and observations of the leaders.
OUR UNIQUE VISION
Our vision is to “Prepare God’s
people to serve and strengthen
the body of Christ” (Eph. 4:12).
We are authorized to effectively
train, graduate, and graduate
men and women of God to carry
the gospel of Jesus Christ into
our world.
OUR TEACHERS
Of course, the greatest treasure of the
University is its teachers. Our motto: “To
equip the people of God for the ministry
and the strengthening of the body of Christ”
(Eph. 4:12), reflects our commitment to revealing
the gifts of Christ for the benefit of the Church and its
members.
Teachers are drawn from a variety of churches and unions,
but all are distinguished by their dedication and profes
sionalism (have a master’s or doctorate in practical theolo
gy). They have a deep understanding of the unique charac
teristics of each church, and their lectures aim to build upon
and enrich the existing atmosphere within each
congregation.
A special emphasis is placed on pastors who have earned
their doctoral degrees and actively participate in teaching,
sharing their practical knowledge and ministry experience.
This ensures that our education is not only theoretical but
also deeply rooted in real-life church ministry
BACCALAUREATE
- The University program is a four-year program, during which you will take 40 courses (10 courses per year).
- Classes may take place in several formats: a) branching out into a local church and b) individually or in a ZOOM group (if recruited). One form should be chosen.
- In a local church-based branch, students will meet once a month (times and days of the week are determined by the branch). For each course, a faculty member will come at a designated time to cover the topic on the University’s schedule.
- For group study, through the ZOOM videoconferencing program, you will study once a month.
- If you are an individual student, you will be sent video lectures, e-textbooks, other materials, assignments, and grades once a month.
- Taught by experienced teachers (Masters and Doctor of Practical Theology).
- For each subject, you will be given an electronic textbook to study. You will be required to complete a workbook based on this textbook as you study. After a month, before each new session, you will have to take a test on the subject you have studied.
- At the end of each academic year, you will write one term paper on a topic of your choice.
- Upon graduation and successful defense of the thesis you will receive a diploma from the International University “Vision” (USA) with the degree of Bachelor of Ministry (practical theology).
- Tuition is paid
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- Availability of secondary education.
- Recommendation of the pastor or senior minister of your church.
